“ Love the neighborhood/indie feel of this grocer in the middle of busy downtown Mountain View. They have a surprisingly good produce selection, as well as goodies from local bakeries and farmers. Staff is friendly and helpful, and they place good music to boot. Oh and good takeout from the food vendors inside (taco/burrito shop and poke bowl bar). Just good vibes all around when I come here ”
“ Today was the first time I shopped at Ava's. I never went before because I assumed the prices would be high and the selection would be limited because it's not a supermarket. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices, especially for high end cheeses. I was also really pleased with the selection. I was particularly impressed by the organic and international options. I felt good shopping at a locally owned store. My visit today will not be my last. I'm going to make a concerted effort to shop at Ava's in the future. ”
“ Looking for an independent grocery store that's intelligently curated and features organic fare? Ava's downtown checks those boxes and then some. Their special events provide opportunities to sample foods such as pupusas (made fresh right before your eyes), novel California wines, and other delights. The family run store provides a place where you can find foods from a wide variety of cultures, and good conversation with the owners - all in one visit. Because they own and operate the store, all the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Best of all it's right on Castro street, the heart of Mountain View. You can't beat having an all purpose grocery store in close proximity to bookstores, clothing specialty stores, and just about every type of restaurant imaginable. ”
“ Not only is Ava's incredibly convenient when you're in downtown Mountain View, there's a secret benefit that many don't realize: It's like a clandestine Trader Joe's right in our midsts! What do I mean? Well think about the fact that shopping at TJ's is so much more fun and easy than your average grocery store: 1) There's always new products from around the world to tempt your tastebuds. 2) You don't have to spend hours walking through a giant mega-store with 800 varieties of ketchup just to get your weekly shopping done. And Ava's is just the same: 1) Sure, it's got all the name-brand stuff that you expect. But it's also got off-the-beaten-path delicacies in just about every category: The best tortilla chips you've ever had from a small-batch producer, paella mixes straight from Spain, and locally-baked bread (e.g., scallion loaves from Acme) that you'd normally have to go to a farmer's market to get. 2) Because it's a small-format store, you can get in-and-out in under 20 minutes - no stress, no giant lines, just quality, interesting food fast! So if you ever thought of Ava's as just another random grocery store in our midsts - think again. Just like Trader Joe's, Trader Juan's (AKA the owner) is a rare gem! ”
“ Best place to go to for groceries in Mountain View Also has a poke place in side the store it used to have a m at shop too ”
“ A great little market in downtown Mountain View. Although it's not huge, they do stock wonderful products, like Strauss dairy, British imports, organic spices, and great wine and beer. Everything they have is superb, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I love this market. ”
“ You would think this place would be super busy and overpriced because it's in the downtown/popular area but it's neither and I loved it just for that reason! I was able to buy a nice bouquet of flowers for a friend quickly and easily at a really decent price of $12 and it wasn't busy at all even though the street itself was jam-packed! Definitely going back ”
“ Cute local market on Castro St. that has a good variety of things, from fresh produce, fresh bread, baking supplies, tons of cheeses, wines, etcetera. HeyO! and Pokebar are both located inside here as well. I come here often for: poke, and last minute grocery runs. +1 Fresh baguette! YUMM. Pretty cheap too! +1 Cheese selection makes we want to get everything! We ended up getting brie, and camenbert. +1 "Meats" selection...not too sure what we got, but everything here looked delicious too! (see pics) Overall, a stable spot on Castro that will probably be here a while considering the traffic that is always coming through. ”
